What is "riven"?
The slate has been split (opened) along its natural grain or layering. This process exposes the natural texture and color variations of the slate, giving it an authentic appearance.

Colouration and tone
Varies from light to darker shades of black and grey. These natural markings and veining are characteristic of this premium slate and only serve to highlight the "natural" qualities that set this material apart from others.
