Black or grey limestone: what's the difference?
Black comes with sawn or hand-cut edges; grey comes with sawn edges. Both are 20mm natural limestone with a fine-textured matt face.
Sawn or hand-cut edge?
Sawn edges are straight and clean, for a modern look. Hand-cut is a rough, hand-finished edge for a traditional look. Hand-cut is available on black only.
Which size do I need?
1200×380 is a front hearth. 900×600 and 900×450 suit a chamber, or a stand-alone hearth for a smaller stove. Check your stove maker's minimum hearth size.
Can I get a limestone hearth cut to my size?
Yes. Limestone Cut to Size cuts a front hearth, a chamber, or both for a T-shape. On black you can pair a stock hand-cut front with a cut chamber. Every piece is cut, edge-dressed, cleaned and sealed, and you see the price as you enter your sizes.
Does the textured face show marks?
No. It's a fine-textured, matt "orange peel" face with natural character. It's a feature of the stone, not a flaw, and it doesn't show everyday marks the way a polished finish does.
Is limestone suitable for a wood-burning stove?
Yes. Limestone is non-combustible and a standard UK hearth material. Sealing helps it resist stains: add Deep Clean & Seal on the product page, or seal it on site.
